The design concept of Nelson's bubble chandelier

The Nelson Ball Cross Bubble pendant is based on the original 1952 design by the ingenious and resourceful George Nelson. Using US military technology and surplus supplies after World War II to create the first Set of Nelson Bubble Lights. Nelson drew from elemental, organic shapes in making variations like the Apple Bubble Pendant, the Pear Wall Sconce, the Lotus Table Lamp, and the Saucer Pendant Lamp, among others.

Bubble chandelier, an irregular artistic beauty

Nelson Bubble chandeliers are made of silk-coated steel wire frames that we cover with a translucent white plastic spray to create a soft organic aesthetic when illuminated. Bubble Pendant's lightweight steel wire frame ensures that it retains its shape even under tension, and in this particular piece, a network of interconnected steel wires produces a pleasing geometric criss-crossing pattern.
